Sheet Yourself: RPG Sheets App Reviews

DONT BUY, MISSING FEATURES

Id love to review the apps actual features, but I dont want to get too far into it because its missing two very major components: "Add Campaign" and "Add Type". I deleted the app and downloaded it again to get the tutorial sheets back, but theres still no "Add Campaign" button. Now, I just realized that theres no new "Add Type" button for the cards. Consumers: Do not buy. Add this item to your wish list if you really think this app is the one youve been looking for. At the moment, the app is missing two crucial features shown in the video. Give the app a shot when you see the update log say theyve fixed them. Dev(s): Please fix, then Ill give your app a proper review. I really think it could do what I want it to do, but not without the two components I cant access.

Zero Stars

There is no information at all in this app. Everything must be filled in manually!!!!!! Do not buy!!!!!

It was a neat idea. It really was...

But after trying to make it work for 2 years I bid farewell to a failed app. I loaded this sheet manager with every character, item, monster, and DMing prop I could think up. Each time they update it crashes and I am forced to renter everything I created (not something that is really possible). After a few instances of this I had to apologize to my playgroup for the money I suggested they spend and move back to pencil and paper. Steer clear folks. 2 stars for a worthwhile idea that ends up being too cumbersome to implement and too unstable to count on.

Runs way too slow

It has a great concept and very easy to use. I can see how it would greatly help organize and save time around the table, but I have made only twelve sheets (5 characters and 7 powers) and the app is almost impossible to use do to extremely slow render times between screens.

Great idea

Awesome idea, very customizable but the app seems to be configured for a larger screen size than the iPhone 5c. Minor bug though and so far it doesnt seem to affect the use of the app

Cool App

I like this app a lot actually. Its nice and sleek and looks like I can get a lot of use out of it. I just wish there were some more options when it came to giving attributes to characters, weapons, etc.

Sheet yourself review

This is an amazing app and it really helps organize all my characters in this RPG board game called Dungeons and Dragons.

Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of this.

This is a nice-looking app, and it does indeed accommodate every RPG that exists. Unfortunately, it does that essentially by providing you a blank space in which you must create a character sheet from scratch, naming and defining all the attributes and characteristics of your character and of every one of his or her items, weapons, armor, abilities, spells, vehicles, etc. It is undoubtedly customizable, but only in the sense that you must actually create everything yourself. It might be better if there were some templates for different games that you can customize, but there aren’t. I have a feeling that if I put a lot of work into creating my character sheets, this would eventually be a good tool for keeping them organized. I just don’t think the up-front effort will be worth it. I also feel that the description of the app overstated what it can actually do, but maybe I had unrealistic expectations. Regardless, it seems a bit overpriced for what it gives you.

Flawless!

I cant wait to see what the developers do to improve upon this app. It has everything I could possibly need for organizing a visually stunning and mentally pleasing character sheet.

Very Good

This app is the best creator, not only can you almost make a RPG video game aspect but you can make anything. With only a little changes here and there this game would be even more amazing. For example, the category scrolling is a bit tricky, and it would be nice to maybe have the apps own search option to were the app has photos ready. But just little things. Great App

Great if you want to meta.

Had high hopes for this app, but as a new dnd player, I wanted something to simplify my character sheet experience. This is not the app to do that. This app is great for those players who like the game within a game feeling and get satisfaction from organizing and laying things out. I will revisit this after I have more experience, but for now I cant recommend this unless you really know what youre doing. I didnt mind paying to support the dev however, as it is well thought out for involved players.

Not for beginners

Great app and well made. Unfortunately Im new to d&d and needed some help and in this app you have the opportunity to create all aspects nothing is prebuilt with multipliers or preloaded spells I did find an app that help me get started called fight club PFRPG so if u like to create yourself this is a great app if you need some help check out fight club

Incredible with flaws

Honestly, this is a great app. The only issues I would say would have is it is sometimes buggy and doesnt always save my information. Otherwise I really love the versatility and abilities that you have within this app in creating your own personal space.

Almost amazing... Almost usable

As has been mentioned, you have to build every character sheet from the ground up. Classes, races, abilities, attribute scores, feats, skills, traits, backgrounds and even rules (Collectively I will call them objects) can be built into this app. Basically you can (and must) define and build everything necessary for your campaign. Everything is modular. That is Sheet Yourselfs promise of power. Mix and match and recreate new characters (sheets) on the fly by using objects that youve already made. The devs are going the right way, but implementation has revealed a fatal weakness of reusing objects in Sheet Yourself. Every object you make is unique. So, you can make an object called "STRength" and assign that to a character and set it to a value you want. That works great. But now if you assign the object STRength to a second character, its referencing the same object with the same value. So both characters are forced to have the same STRength value (change it for one, and you changed it for both). Kinda pointless. There are work arounds (create many unique STRength objects), but this workaround magnifies the inherent weakness of the app. Mainly that its a lot of work. Until the devs implement the ability to assign a copy (instance) of an object, that isnt tied to other copies (instances) this app is a time intensive and pretty character sheet that is missing by inches the potential to drive the way I run my game. It currently exhibits little in the way of time/effort saving utility. Ive spoken with the devs and made it clear what it will take to make the app useful and Im told that a new iOS version is coming soon that "should make me happy". I really really hope so. This one feature would turn this app from a wish of awesome to an indispensable component of my table top role playing experience.
